La isla de Tumbatu es el jardín coralino más bello del norte de Zanzíbar. Los tres puntos de inmersión en la isla, Shetani, Popobawa y Mwana, albergan un impresionante y floreciente arrecife de coral, presentando una gran riqueza de corales blandos y duros. El arrecife empieza a una profundidad de 3 metros y desciende suavemente hasta los 12. Esto hace de Tumbatu un lugar ideal para practicar snorkel y para buceadores sin experiencia.
Tumbatu es el hogar de numerosas tortugas / peces hoja / pulpos / peces escorpión / morenas / nudibranquios.
